The story, what is this story.  How did I come up with it and why write it.  Is that not the question we all face some say I won't write.  I chose to write

I was going through a hard time in my life and wanted to look at it on a screen and as I was writing my over active imagination took over.  That caused me to come up with a novel but it also was the reason for the epic failure of my first attempt at writing.

When I first started this I was all over the place shifting straight to fifth gear without using a clutch.  I blew the transmission and felt like a failure.  I took some time off from writing but the story would not leave my thoughts.  I wanted to write it, I needed to write it.  I don't know any other fictional writers and how they do it, I had no one to speak with to get guidance or to ask do you feel the need to write.  It was a calling for me, the more I wrote the more comfort I felt.

It was one of the few times especially in section two where my mind was not focused on the negative aspects of my life.  When I wrote none of that mattered, it was a world I was building where things happened to those who worked.

I picked up writing and started in the middle; I got some traction and knew I needed to get to this point.  I could look at every chapter before the beginning of section 2 as does this get to him to that cafe.  While the story in section one is very raw emotional I needed the second section to focus myself.

Though it seems there's a lot in section one that is pointless it really is not.  I cut out pointless elements.  I had to build Ricky and Anna, on many attempts Anna came off as unlikeable.  So if I cut anything out I'd be doing a disservice to a character that plays a large part in a third of the quadrology.  I would have to work harder on redeeming the character, putting a focus on her which could have hurt the flow of the rest of the story.

So if you are like a friend of mine and find the pace of the first section off or to slow.  Sorry but like when I was learning to drive a standard I didn't start off in fifth gear.  My brother would have killed me, no I was quite happy in first gear because I was 9 and driving.  Then I was taught when you change to second gear and to third.   The first section of this book hits third gear until that fateful day in Halifax when for a short time I go into fourth gear.

Section two the book reflects more of what you'll see from me when writing the Titan Group series.  High pace, humor, action, characterization and once again pace.  I want my writing to be enjoyable because that means it is enjoyable to read it.  The first section of this book has so many things that you'll say 'Why is that there' I promise if there is a loose thread I will have it mended before this quadrology is closed.

The plan going forward is to do four books in this run.  Originally I wanted to do three but everyone does a trilogy so let's do something new and exciting.  I got the idea when writing a line in the second book, one line and it gave me the confidence to write a full book in the series.

Thank  you for reading I will use this blog for the book and other issues that interest me.  Comics, Fictional novels, Non fiction, amateur politics, sports, fantasy sports and just for another method to interact with friends I have and friends I've yet to meet.
